Roy Ewing started his grooming carrier as a bather at “Melody's Sheer Perfection” on Manhattan’s prestigious Upper West Side. Melody, the shop’s owner and caretaker was Roy’s mentor and teacher. Melody was also a teacher at the New York school for Dog Grooming. Needless to say, Roy learned the basics of grooming with her and began to develop the qualities that make a groomer superior. As he continued to expand his skills, Roy began working at “A Cut Above”, also in the Upper West Side. He worked as a bather, a fluffer and eventually became part of their first-rate team of groomers. There he worked with some of the best groomers in Manhattan. He steadily grew his abilities and catalog of cuts by relentlessly learning from his colleagues. They worked with the dogs of such clients as Montel Williams, Kevin Bacon and Steve Martin. They were also “the spot” for grooming competition dogs where the cuts must be exact to breed standards.Although a great place to learn, “A Cut Above” was also stressful. Lucky for us, Roy chose The Hamilton Dog House as the place to continue escalating his career. The Hamilton Dog House is located in a Brooklyn neighborhood that calls for quality grooming and fair prices, making it a very comfortable place for Roy.
Roy is at ease with a variety breed cuts including Poodles, Malteses, Bijon Frises, Shit zhus, York Shire Terriers, Coton de Tuléars, West Highland White Terriers, Wheaten Terrier and Cocker Spaniels to name a few. Roy's most common cuts at the Hamilton Dog House are summer cuts, puppy cuts and a variety of styles of breed cuts.
He also works with the dog and cats of Sean Casey Animal Rescue and thus is very comfortable with difficult and challenging animals. He handles all of his furry clients with the utmost respect and patience and will take breaks between the grooming if the animal calls for it. Roy is also skilled with cat grooming, lion cuts, nail clippings and ear cleanings. We look forward you to seeing you and your dog soon!
